Dr. J.L. Davenport Family Life Center

 

The purpose of our Family Life Ministries Program is to assist the church in ministering to individual church members and the complete family. It also provides opportunities for outreach to others within the surrounding community.

Specifically, our Family Life Ministries Program provides Saint John's with the opportunity to:

bulletBecome more aware of its congregational diversity and how best to minister to its needs.
bulletPractice good Christian stewardship.
bulletProvide opportunities for spiritual growth and development.
bulletProvide opportunities for Christian service for church members.
bulletProvide opportunities for church members to exemplify God's love and concern for one another
bulletTeach, reach, and keep families in the church.
bulletProvide services to the community.

The program design for Family Life Ministries includes:

bulletOne-time events such as a church-wide fellowship activity.
bulletTime-limited programs such as classes, workshops, seminars, banquets, recreational activities, and community activities.

Currently, the Family Life Center facilities include the following:

bulletA kitchen (feeding program) which provides meals six days a week for the needy.
bulletThe Pastor's Office
bulletThe Secretary's Office
bulletThe Church Department of Education Office
bulletThe Church Finance Office
bulletThe State One Church, One Child Office
bulletOur Girl/Cub Scouts Office
bulletOne Conference Room
bulletFourteen classrooms
bulletAnd a Gymnasium

This ministry carries out its activities through a Family Life Ministry calendar of activities, which is coordinated by two volunteers. Building usage is scheduled in accordance with the church’s overall calendar of events.
